Why is dynamic process screening important?
In both fed-batch and continuous processing using EnzeneX™, optimization of feeding frequency, volume and process parameter control is necessary to maximize culture productivity while maintaining critical quality attributes (CQAs). Multiple bioreactor runs are often required to optimize all of these process parameters.
Dynamic process screening allows for the rapid evaluation of different process parameters, accelerating upstream process development.
Understanding our dynamic process screening capabilities
Our approach to dynamic process screening is designed to accelerate upstream process development, eliminating the need for multiple bioreactor runs during process parameter optimization.
Rapid screening of multiple parameters can be performed in a single perfusion batch, including:
- Several different basal media and feed combinations
- Perfusion rate
- Process parameters such as pH, temperature and dissolved oxygen
Our dynamic process screening capabilities support low perfusion rates with minimal cell-specific perfusion rate (CSPR) as low as 10-30 pL/c/d. The high-performing perfusion media selected from this approach can then be used as a starting point for additional targeted process parameter optimization if required.
The design of our dynamic process screening is compatible with EnzeneX™, our patented and validated continuous bioprocess manufacturing platform, which consists of an upstream process in the perfusion mode integrated with an alternative tangential flow system (ATF).
